As always ALL comments are welcomed (no registration of any kind neccasary), and NO censoring of any on topic comments will occur.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Most anyone reading between the lines by now knows that there were no "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq. Wheather you feel that the war itself was justified or not is a side point, the reasoning for removing Mr. Hussein in the manner that it occured was not appropriate. Now it seems that the current US cabinet is trying to play police man to the middle east.
According to Reuters the US is demanding the UN to exploit their powers regarding Iran's resumption of nuclear research. Already the US is beginning to take action, yesterday Senator Hillary Clinton was at Princeton University where she was quoted as calling for "new vision and leadership" in US policy toward the Middle east. She also called for the US congress to adopt economic sactions against Iran. All of this stems from Iran's resumption of nuclear fuel reasearch.
In conjunction with increasing tensions between the US an Iran, the Washington post is reporting that the US has has tranfered several renforcements to an area where they are in a strategic location close to Iran. An entire wing of F-16s, the Air National Guard's 122nd Fighter Wing based in Fort Wayne, Ind., left for a base in southwest Asia on Tuesday. A wing is usually about 72 aircraft and several hundred support personnel. F-16s and support personnel from the 4th Fighter Squadron of the 388th Fighter Wing based at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, also deployed recently to Iraq. The squadron has 12 F-16s. Both units' F-16s could be used in any military operation to take out Iranian nuclear facilities.
For anyone watching the world situation right now, a war with Iran is iminent. It's only a matter of time....
Notice: Our Hidden Society shut down till early January
Unfortunatly due to school and family commitments I will be unable to post over the holidays,
Our Hidden Society will be back in the first week of january with a Full length editorial and more mainstream news that exposes the underbelly of world politics...
US Admits to Use of Chemical Weapons In Iraq
The US Pentagon admited to use of white phosporus mortors in Iraq on Wendsay. The US used
these weapons despite being signed on to the international Chemical Weapons Convention. The International Chemical Weapons Convetion bans the use of such weapons. White phosphorus munitions are primarily used by the U.S. military to create smoke screens and for target marking, they can also be used however as an incendiary weapon as the substance in burns very easily in air at temperatures above 30 degrees celcius. Army Lt. Col. Barry Venable, a Pentagon spokesman, said that said that in the Falluja battle, "U.S. forces used white phosphorous both in its classic screening mechanism and ... when they encountered insurgents who were in foxholes and other covered positions who they could not dislodge any other way." He also stated that the soldiers employed a "shake-and-bake" technique of using white phosphorus shells to flush enemies out of hiding and then use high explosives artillery rounds to kill them.
The War in Iraq: By the Numbers
Editors Note: To all spammers, your spam WILL be removed in a timely fasion, don't even try it! If I leave them these people will continue to post their advertising here, I will not remove ANY legitimate comments. I encourage and love healthy debate, I belive that free speech and differing points of view are important so please do not feel that I will censor you if you post - I WON'T
As usual all cited articles are included as embedded links, please do your own reasearch before you pass judgement, don't belive everything you hear but learn to filter it....
----------------------
Why is it not good enough that people are volenteering to fight for their country in a war that is not necessary? Why are members of the U.S. military going into the war zone without a basic tournaquite or other basic equipment. According to the article it would cost 2 million dollars or two-thousanths of a percent of the current 82 billion dollar budget for the iraq war to equip ALL troops in iraq with a tournaquite. Apparently that is an expenditure that is not required, fine I'll let that go. What about body armour though? SURELY the U.S military, the most powerful and pricey military in the world provides body armour to their well trained troops? Nope, aparrently the U.S army has disobeyed the U.S congress and still owes soldiers and their families hundreds, even thousands of dollars that was used to purchase body armour for their family that is serving in Iraq. As far as I am concerned there is NO excuse for this! When ANY country sends their troops to a war zone it is their DUTY to do they're absolute best to ensure the safety of those troops.....
That my $0.02, what do YOU think?
iTunes a U.S. Army Recruting Tool?
Crooks and Liars is reporting that the U.S. military is offering each person that agrees to be contacted by the Recruters 3 free iTunes downloads! Wow! in the words of one commenter: Boy, $2.97 worth of songs! As always I do not wish to downplay ANY tragedy however I have been growing more and more disgusted with the govermental reaction to this tragedy...
As always the documentation is provided as embedded links throughout the document, please check them out as a launching pad for your own reasearch. Ocassionally media references require a "free registration" to view the the story but there is no need to register, the people over at Bug Me Not have compiled a database of submitted username/passwords for newsmedia sites like those referenced. Please use this service and contribute, they do a great job! I have also recently set the option that anyone can now leave comments on the entries, you needen't worry about being a blogger member so PLEASE leave a comment wheather you agree with me or not, or even if you have your own opinion I would love to hear some feedback!
As we have all seen over the past week and a half the Gulf Coast region has been devastated by a massive hurricane that has nearly destroyed the entire city of New Orleans. However dealing with the devestationof their home town has been the least of their worry over the last week, survival has been the ultimate goal of many. Many are struggling to survive despite the sham of a relief operation that is the current effort. Why has the most powerful nation on the face of the planet, one that is able to mobilize troups to the other side of the globe in 48 hours, produced such an embaresing response too the disaster. The Federal Emergency Manegment Agency (FEMA) has been where the buck has stopped over the past week, FEMA has already denied help or told groups willing to offer assistance to the area not to just small groups/individuals but to the Red Cross! Aid from other countries has also been denied or delayed by the United States for political reasons. On the monday that Katrina hit Anne Mcleanen (Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness and deputy prime minester) offered "what ever help was needed". The offer was not accepted until nearly a WEEK later! Why was the acceptance of Canada's offer delayed while other aid offer's are being rejected entirely? Especially after Secratary of State Condaleeza Rice said that “no offer that can help alleviate the suffering of the people in the afflicted area will be refused”! It must be noted that while what I am saying is inflamatory it is the facts! At no point will we delve into theory or conspiracy allegations, the purpose of this entry is to ask questions based on the evidence and expose that the official story is not the real story.
On September 11th, 2001 at 9:37 am it was reported that American Airlines flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon building located in Washington D.C. Flight 77 was a Boeing 757 that had 64 people aboard on that day. By looking at the impact damage caused by the crash of the aircraft (similar to this one) we can already identify 2 major issues with the official story right here by examining this picture taken after the impact but BEFORE the collapse:
1st: There is incredibly little damage to the building, one can see the shaded area of the photo is the main void in the building caused by the 757. A 757 has a wingspan of 124' 10, since it is sometimes difficult to establish size from a picture it is good that this photo has a reference object (the police car) in order to assess the size of the damage. It should also be noted that there are no major aircraft portions visible, no wings, no tail, no metal debris, NOTHING!
and 2nd: As pointed out so eloquently in the picture, the pentagons lawn is in PRISTINE condition! A Boeing 757 weighs approximately 255,000 lbs, as a general rule the heavier the aircraft the more complex and difficult it is to fly. However the terrorist designated to fly the aircraft that day were not truly capable of flying a small, single engine training aircraft! Given the small physical size of the Pentagon as a target I find it difficult to believe that a pilot not capable of flying an aircraft the size of a large car is capable of flying a 255,000 pound airliner with any precision. It is much more likely that a incapable pilot would hit the ground prior to the building....
So given this examination of the visible evidence we can see that at least this portion of the official story is false. We were told that a very large object (a Boeing 757) flown by a pilot not able to fly a small 4 seat airplane hit the Pentagon and caused the damage you see above, yet the evidence shows that the damage could not possibly be caused by a 255 ton airliner flown by an incapable pilot.
Sadly there any many more issues with the 9/11 commissions report that I will get into in the next entry due Friday (it has become VERY long) so look for that, and PLEASE at the bare minimum note the documentation, this is NOT theory, this is fact....
How Anyone Connected to the Internet Can Now Be "Big Brother".......
On January 4th of this year webzine and blog Boing Boing listed an article that over the course of the next few days made it's rounds VERY quickly. Boing Boing's article described a tip from a reader that told how to search google for unsecured webcam feeds. This search string and other similar strings could be used by anyone to find literally thousands of unsecured surveillance webcams. Before I go on it should be made clear that not all of these cameras are meant to be kept from the public, cameras such as this one at the Oregon Humane Society allow the public to see cats from the comfort of their own home. While many of the webcams found using Google's search strings (here, here, here, and here) are meant for public viewing, a large number of them are unsecured surveillance and security webcams, this is where the major privacy concerns are.
Before the reader continues reading on they need to do an exercise: go here and click on any of the search results that Google returns. When it loads the reader will now be seeing a live view of a location somewhere on the globe, now press the "start control" button. Once the reader has control over the camera they can pan, zoom, and tilt, the camera to their hearts content, they can even use it to take a snapshot!
In the two days that I have known about this information I have been able to track down and view unsecured surveillance cameras from the offices of businesses I have visited, boiler rooms of the university I go to, and a live view of a popular street in my town, and that's just the stuff I found in my HOMETOWN! For webcams that I did not recognize I just did a simple IP trace to find out the general location of the camera, and some basic sleuthing to find the precise business name and location.
When I was exploring this capability I spent very litle effort to see how much information I could glean, I spent an average of 10 minutes per camera it was horrifying. Given the correct information someone can see if a buisiness has an unsecured webcam IN UNDER 30 SECONDS, without any information it MIGHT take a person as long as 30 minutes. I say "person" here and not "hacker" beacause anyone with a basic knowledge of how the internet works and the knowledge of the search strings to use can abuse this ability.
Unfortunatly in our hidden society of today you are watched all the time by businesses, the police, and other groups, but now even Joe Blow on the other side of the world may be watching you go about your day. It's sad but there is nothing we can do to protect ourselves from this threat to our privacy, just know that whenever you see a surveilence camera you don't know who's watching you......
-David
Notice: For those that are following "Our Hidden Society" please note that as I am busy until monday the next update should be on Tuesday when I discuss how current legilation in the United States and Canada is slowly stripping our persol rights and freedoms
RFID and Your Personal Privacy (cont'd.)
Up until this point in this post I have primarily discussed the benefits of RFID technology, I won't pretend to kid the reader the benefits are tremendous. While realizing the potential benefits of RFID technology is important in our hectic and fast paced society, it is also extremely important to see the negative side of RFID technology as well as how it can be abused by manufacturers and marketers alike to compromise our privacy.
RFID is being considered the "holy grail" of the supply chain, but Marketers with major companies are itching to get there hands on this technology. Marketers continually want to "target" their message to the demographic that they are aiming for, this is why for example an ad for a toy of some sort has lots of action, fast cuts, bright colours, etc. If the marketers can know that YOU have come into the store, and they can market their products to YOU, that's THEIR holy grail. RFID technology will allow marketers to suggest that "you buy a white pair of pants to go with that sweater you purchased last week" and then they'll suggest brands and the like. While over time this will become this will become just another annoyance in our daily lives it is not the horrifying part to the implementation of RFID.
With fortune 500 companies throwing their weight behind RFID and their spending on the chips growing exponentially companies are already starting to abuse our right to privacy by inserting chips covertly into our products. Companies such as Gillette, Procter & Gamble, Ambercrombie & Fitch, and Wal-Mart the only reason this has been found out is because these companies have been caught red handed, they have already begun item level tagging of their products in secret. Then selling their tagged items to consumers! Companies are not only selling tagged products to consumers they are using those tags to take pictures of their purchasers! The Gillette "Smart Shelf" (seen at right) detects when a package of Mach 3 razor blades are removed from the shelf when that occurs a hidden camera snaps a picture of the consumers face, when the consumer purchases the product ANOTHER picture of their face is taken. At the end of the day a security guard sits down with the photos and looks for any that don't match, any single photos are forwarded to the police. We are supposed to live in a society where we are held innocent until it is proven beyond a shadow of a doubt the we are guilty, however gig companies such as Gillette obviously do not feel that way. Gillette is not the only company to do this however, in November of 2003 Fortune 500 company Procter & Gamble was caught using a "Smart Shelf" to spy on purchasers of Lipfinity lipstick, in this instance they were simply using it as an exercise in marketing!
RFID is still an experimental technology, if this how large corporations are handeling this power now, who's to say what they will do when RFID has replaced the barcode? As a society we must stop our continual loss of "public privacy" and seize our abiltity to live our (private) lives!
Follow up: The one thing that I wish to impart to the reader above all else is not to take my word as gospel. While everything printed here has been researched and referenced from mainstream sources it is important for the reader to follow up and do their own research, YOU must convince YOURSELF, I can only show you the door, etc. There are many resources available to you to follow up on this subject, Spychips.org and Infowars.com are both excellent places to start your RFID related research (both can be found by using the links in the right margin of the page) as google "RFID" in google news. I hope you find something of interest to you here in the future I intend to explore topics including: The notion of "Public Privacy", Current legislation and our loss of rights and freedoms, The 2004 presidential election, and probably the most controversial (however as always based SOLEY on ABSOLUTE FACT) : inconsistency's with the "official" 9/11 story
RFID and Your Personal Privacy
Brief Note: All quoted sources are included as embedded links throughout this article, I ecourage you to visit them (and others) to conduct your own reasearch into the topic at hand, all sources cited are reputable, mainstream newsmedia.
In the first post (and title for that matter) of this this thread I reference "our hidden society", I'm sure the first question the reader will ask is "just what is our hidden society"? In an online forum I post to regularly I described our "hidden society" as "a combination of legislation (both in the us and here in canada), new technologys , and leaders with little care for the actual populus" these leaders, technology, and legislation all combine to strip us of our personal privacy and freedoms.
One such technology that is quickly being implemented is that of Radio Frequency Identification Chips. Radio Frequency Identification Chips (RFID chips) are small chips between the size of a grain of sand and a postit note, that each transmits a unique number to a reader device within a range of about 20 feet. The benifet to this technology is that when it is combined with a computer database one is able to keep track of each chip ID each chip. The largest benifet of this technology will come to the supply chain industry, these chips when imbedded in each and every product will allow inventory to be completed in a matter of seconds as opposed to days.
RFID technology is meant to track each individual product on the face of the planet but as Hamlet once said "aye but theres the rub", RFID IS meant to track every individual product on the face of the planet. A group based out of the Massutushas Institute of Technology is looking to create "the internet of things" a web based infrastucture aimed at tracking shipments and other items throughout the globe.
While RFID technology is meant to streamline the shipping/recieving process it has become a holy grail for marketers and can become a horrifying nightmare for consumers. What few people realize when they go shopping is that whenever they purchase any item with any thing other then cash, that purchase is logged in a (or several) databases. In stores that have "frequent shopper" or other loyalty cards YOUR information is added to that log, over time shopping habits can be gleaned from the information of what you bought when. So this is where it gets scary since each individual purchase is tracked along with who purchased it, if the UNIQUE ID number is logged with that purchase information, anyone with access to that database can track where that INDIVIDUAL item goes as long as it is within read range of a reader. So lets explore a hypothetical but very feasible situation that may occur in the very near future:
Lets say you are out one day at your favorite local retailer and you see a pair of shoes that you absolutly have to have since they are on sale with your store loyalty card, so you buy them with your credit card. (Your information and that pair of shoes has now been logged in at least two databases) When you go out shopping the next week you visit a different big box store and you see a box similar to this one by the entrance to the store:you think nothing of it and continue shopping. Little do you know that both companies have an agreement to share their market research information with each other. Now the buisness you are shopping at knows who you are, how much you spend, what you purchase, how often you visit, and plenty of other information, beacause the pair of shoes you bought the previous week (the ones with with the RFID chips in them) were registered in the shared database. Pretty scary huh?
Since this post has suddenly become very long I'll be back to complete this story in the next entry. In that entry I'll go over in greater detail the privacy implactions of RFID and the planned uses of it.....
-David
The First Post - what it's alllllll about
Wow, here we go....
What does one do when they KNOW that there is something wrong with the world but can't quite put their finger on it?
That has been my experience for many years, when I was younger I could tell that something wasn't quite right. I know the average person probably doesn't belive me right know but it's true. One night at that age I was up late one late (reeeeeeal late) and I had the radio on I came across the late night radio program "Coast to Coast AM" with then host Art Bell. As I listened to stories about UFOs, holes that seemed to have no bottom, and ghosts, my first reaction was to dismiss it as nothing more then some late night entertainment. But over time things that the guests were saying would come true so after TEN YEARS now I have reached a point where I can truly filter out the wheat from the chaff (and theres a lot of chaff).
As humans we have a natural protective mechanism, when we hear something we don't like (say you were just told you have six months to live) theres are six stages we go through:
1. Denial
2. Bargining
3. Guilt
4. Anger
5. Depression
6. Hope
If someone you respected walked up to you and said that they had been abuducted by aliens you would most likly dismiss them as nuts, why? Well it has been taught to us since we were very young that it is not possible, when was the last time you checked for yourself? have you ever admitted the possibility?
I'm NOT saying that anything that everyone says must be taken as gospel from on high but we learn to CHECK THE FACTS FOR OURSELVES! One can observe this in todays mainstream newsmedia, the reporters from the local newspaper or tv station go to the press conference get the official "party line" and return to the station to edit the piece. The mainstream media does not check the facts and does not encourage the viewers/listeners to go out and check the facts for themselves.
The purpose of this Blog is to bring to light news stories from legitimate sources that routinly get overlooked, we are living in a Hidden Society one that is not revealed to the populus en mass.....
stay tuned for interesting news stories, links and other enlitening materials...
-David
